Reggie: Nintendo not ‘thinking seriously’ about next console yet -

In a Forbes interview, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime gave the impression that a new home console from Nintendo is still in the distant future.
“The way we approach that innovation,” he said, referring to Nintendo’s innovative “jumps” (like the Wii), “because we have hardware developers working side by side with software developers, is that [...]

OnLive launch titles ‘in the teens,’ 50-60 games by 2011 -

Following today’s GDC keynote from OnLive CEO Steve Perlman, his COO, Mike McGarvey, fielded questions about the game streaming service that’s launching June 17. Unfortunately, just how much full games will cost on top of the $14.95 monthly subscription fee was not one that he answered.
McGarvey did confirm that the service will launch with a [...]

That’s a good sign that [...]

The Daily Grind: What struck you as unnecessarily annoying?

If you took part in the recent City of Heroes double XP weekend, as a long-standing customer or a returning visitor, you most likely had a chance to take part in one of the game’s Safeguard/Mayhem missions. Heroes are tasked with preventing a bank robbery, while villains are instead given the job of robbing said [...]

One Shots: Goodbye, bear

It’s always hard to retire a character you love — or to see your friends move on from a game you’ve played together for quite some time. Today’s World of Warcraft One Shots shows off one such bittersweet moment with a goodbye dance and /wave from Nakirush. The note goes on to explain: Oh bear [...]

Impressions: Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring -

Can the music genre be revitalized? Can gaming newcomer Seven45 Studios — a combined publisher, developer and hardware manufacturer — sway current fans of Guitar Hero and Rock Band to try yet another music game, and one that focuses only on guitar? The odds are undoubtedly against them.
At the very least, Seven45’s Power Gig: Rise [...]

Last night, during the — super awkward — Final Fantasy XIII launch party in San Fransisco, Sony’s Rob Dyer took a big shot across the bow of any Microsoft representatives in the audience by promising a pending announcement of exclusive content for the PS3 version of the game.
Today, on PlayStation Blog, Dyer revealed that the [...]

See a cut of Shank gameplay -

With Shank now being published by EA, Klei Entertainment is putting the increased development budget to good use — with a trailer! Well, it’s likely there would be a trailer this week anyway, as this week also marks the hyper-violent XBLA/PSN/PC brawler’s appearance at the Independent Games Festival.
The brutal violence may dominate the trailer, but [...]

Available March 18 for 800 ($10) on Xbox Live and PSN, the Exotic Racing Series Pack parks seven [...]

Breakfast Topic: Favorite names

Our very own Gregg Reece is a new father, which got me thinking about names for babies. Some names are just plain awful, like my poor father-in-law named Hubert. Some names are passed down in families, with varying degrees of suitability — naming my sister after our great-grandfather probably wouldn’t have worked if he hadn’t [...]
